Why is this important to Apple lovers? So far, as near as I can tell, Apple may have been acting like a big, nasty corporation without a lot of judgment here.
The patent disputes between Apple and Samsung became even more heated during recent U.S. federal proceedings when a judge declared that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab infringes on some of Apple’s iPad patents. However, the judge added that Apple will have to do more to establish the validity of its patents before a final decision about an injunction can be made.
Quanta Computer has agreed to pay Microsoft a license fee for devices that run Google Android or Chrome. It is the latest deal in a series that Microsoft has inked with manufacturers using Android, and more lately, Chrome, in their products. Other notable wins for Microsoft have been Samsung and HTC.
Apple won another round in its global patents war with Samsung Wednesday when an Australian court issued an interim injunction barring the sale of Galaxy 10.1 tablets in that country. The injunction will remain in effect until the companies settle a dispute in which Apple claims its patents were stepped on by Samsung, according to a report.
Samsung and Apple apparently are in the process of settling some of their patent disputes in Australia. While the present negotiations would not completely settle the conflicts between the companies, they would allow Samsung to sell the Galaxy Tab in Australia in time for the upcoming holiday season. The news came soon after Apple temporarily excluded two of the five patent claims against Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1 in Australia.
