A competitor of computing giant IBM has accused Big Blue of violating antitrust laws in the European Union. In a complaint to the European Commission, mainframe computer maker T3 Technologies has accused IBM of using its dominance of the mainframe market to shut out competitors. T3 claims that IBM keeps competitors from selling mainframes by tying the sale of its myriad operating systems to its mainframe products.
Lawyers for a British man accused of hacking into U.S. military computers asked Britain’s High Court Tuesday to block his extradition to the United States. They say Gary McKinnon has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism, and is at risk of psychosis or suicide if he is sent to the U.S.
The European Union is taking aim at Microsoft again, with its antitrust regulatory arm alleging on Friday that the U.S.-based software giant is breaking European anticompetitive rules by tying Internet Explorer to Windows. Satyam’s balance sheets were riddled with “fictitious” assets and “non existent” cash and contained a $1 billion gap, the company’s founder and former chairman B. Ramalinga Raju admitted.
A small networking company is suing three tech titans for patent infringement. Cygnus Systems has filed suit in the U.S. District Court in Arizona, alleging that Microsoft, Google and Apple have all violated a patent Cygnus received in March 2008 on the use of document preview icon, or so-called thumbnail, technology.
