News Corp. has hired two new executives at MySpace, expanding the online hangout’s management team after having just replaced its CEO on Friday. Michael Jones, who’s founded several online businesses, will serve as MySpace’s chief operating officer. Jones, 39, replaces Amit Kapur, who left last month.
U.S. video game sales slumped more than expected in March and were flat in the first quarter when compared with a year earlier — hurt by the recession, a shift in the Easter calendar and fewer big game launches. March sales of hardware, software and accessories fell 17 percent to $1.43 billion when compared with the same month a year earlier, according to market researcher NPD Group.
A startup called “Zeebo” is betting that people in emerging markets want to play good video games just as much as people in the U.S., Western Europe and Japan do. Zeebo plans to launch its “video game console for the next billion” in Brazil next month for $199 and in other countries later this year for $179.
