The FCC has released a report attacking AT&T’s proposal to buy T-Mobile as a damper on competition. The 157-page report was released on Wednesday, after the FCC accepted AT&T’s move to withdraw its request for approval of the $39 billion deal. The report evaluates the impact the merger would have on competition in the wireless market.
Online music service Spotify on Wednesday announced that it’s launching a series of integrated apps from various partners. These include apps from entities like Rolling Stone and Billboard and Songkick. “We’ve turned Spotify into this platform,” company CEO and founder Daniel Ek told an audience in New York.
Verizon and Microsoft announced details Tuesday of a deal between the companies for streaming video content from Verizon’s FiOS television service to members of Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service. Verizon explained that Gold members who also subscribe to FiOS TV and Internet services will be able to stream 26 channels to their Xboxes.
Facebook has agreed to settle charges of privacy violations with the Federal Trade Commission. As part of the settlement, the social networking giant will submit to periodic independent privacy audits for the next 20 years. The company has also agreed to ask users for permission before changing the way their data is released.
